Pairing with an app on your smartphone or tablet, this handy outlet enables you to turn electronics off and on and even creating a schedule for those devices you use often. It will even tell you how much electric you’re using, so perfect for those who are looking to cut electric consumption and be greener, or just those who always forget to turn the lights off. One that caught my eye the Koogeek smart plug which looks the easiest to set up as you just have to scan the code with your camera in the app, and is controllable on iphone by siri, though unfortunately it’s only available in the US and not for the European market yet. TP Link do a smart plug that I like the bit where you can Even with an iphone, you can even control it through voice control though you need an extra bit, have to say how cool is that, just imagine in the morning you have to get up, but you can’t reach for the light switch, just say “Hey Siri, turn on the light” or something like that. App of the week & Eircode update
Got some news on Eircode this week, they’ve recently launched an android and iphone app, with I’m told a windows app coming soon. And they announced in the summer that agreement has been reach with top sat-nav companies and google maps to include eircode look up in their services, which we should see by Christmas. The app is fantastic, you can look up an address, typing in the area or location, finding the place on the map and then retrieving the code. Or just do it for where you are using your phones gps.
