Archbishop Eamon Martin, the Catholic Primate of Ireland, has warned that growing aggression among Christian commentators online is “not of God”.  

In his New Year message, he spoke of being saddened by people of faith who appear “armed for battle” on social media, using the language of religion to divide, dismiss and “other” those they see as different.  

Drawing on the words of Pope Leo, Archbishop Martin has called instead for a “disarmed peace” — one rooted in mercy, reconciliation and bridge-building at a time of global conflict, rising nationalism and deepening division. Archbishop Eamon Martin joins us now.
