Pieter DeWitte
3rd April 2026
On this Good Friday, as Christians around the world reflect on themes of suffering, forgiveness and redemption, a lecture taking place later this month is inviting us to think more deeply about how those ideas play out in our justice system.
Professor Pieter De Witte, a prison chaplain and lecturer at KU Leuven, will speak at the Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice’s annual lecture, exploring what forgiveness, community and punishment really mean in practice.
Drawing on both theology and his experience working in prisons, he’s asking some challenging questions about how we respond to wrongdoing—and whether our current systems reflect the values we profess.
