Fr Niall Leahy SJ

Fr Niall Leahy is a native of Blackrock, Co. Louth, he moved to Dublin in 2000 to study B.Comm International (French) at UCD followed by a Masters of Accounting at the Smurfit Business School.  He was then employed by KPMG where he spent three years (2005-2008) in the Financial Services Auditing department and acquired Articles of Membership for the Association of Chartered Accountants of Ireland.  It was during these years working in Dublin that he first heard of Spirit Radio and met the people who were behind it. At the end of his training contract at KPMG  he was employed by Spirit Radio to help with administration, fundraising and launching the station. During this year he discerned a call to the Catholic priesthood and entered the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in September 2009.

His years in Jesuit formation have consisted of formal studies, pastoral activities and personal and spiritual development. From 2009 to 2014 he was in the UK, spending two years as a novice in Birmingham and three years studying for a B.A. (Hons) Philosophy at Heythrop College, University of London.  He returned to Ireland in 2014 to work for two years at Clongowes Wood College SJ, Co. Kildare and to complete the Professional Masters of Education at Maynooth University. In 2016 Niall went to Toronto, Canada where he studied for the Masters of Divinity at Regis College, University of Toronto. In 2019 he returned to the UK for an M.A. Theology, Ecology and Ethics at University of Roehampton.

Fr Niall is now based at Gardiner Street Parish in Dublin
